Just as I let go of reality
She enters the room
As invisible as light
Beautiful as snow
She comes again
In her patented ethereal way
Just as I prepare for sleep
She visits me
Filling my head with dreams
Tempting me with fantasies
Hinting at secrets
Luring me with mysteries
She comforts patiently
Standing sentinel
A gatekeeper of imagination
The guide to self expression
I call her many things
Inspiration
Muse
Temptation
Her visits stir my soul
Create vivid new dreams
Torture my sanity
Gives birth to frustration
I cannot capture her on paper
She refuses to be my genie in a bottle
Her appearance is on her time
Never yielding to my beckoning
I embrace this lady of lyrics
Invite her into my bed
But she declines
Causing me to desire
Only when she visits
Do my thoughts resemble coherence
Does my life find meaning
Can I make sense of this surrealism
This abstract apparition knows my weakness
Comforts me on long rainy nights
Is seen in slow burning flames
Escapes into the dawn
She is not seduced
By my feeble prose
My inadequate poetry
The way I trip over stanzas
The nights without her are endless
Causing a miserable distress
The torment of my soul
A tearing of my heart
She puts the pen in my hand
Paper on my desk
She leans over my shoulder
Whispering wondrous words
Her patience is admirable
Wasting vast amounts of time on me
She is a stout supporter
Her charity saving me more than once
She pushes and pulls me
Creating fleeting moments of clarity
When I can say how I truly feel
Without fear
If I have ever made sense
She is the reason why
I do not do this on my own
She is the co writer of my life
I praise her
I worship her
I beg for her each day
She is the finest mistress
