The broken vase gives you away
Cutting into my tired feet

Your scissor toting shadow threatens me
Silence often does that

The flashlight batteries are failing
Just like in every bad horror film

Malice lingers in the air
Choking light into submission

I challenge fate around every corner
But I am drawn to you

Your hatred is compelling
An invited part of my life

There will never be another like you
Who else would go through such lengths?

I haven’t slept in days
I’m not even sure where the bed is

This game we play drives us to madness
Crossing the line from role-play to real-life

Our words split each other in two
Causing us to stalk and hide

We are both hunter and prey
Drawing and giving blood along the way

Too near death to be afraid of it any longer
Too far from living to remember what it was like

Climbing the stairs in pursuit of your demise
Clutching a kitchen knife offering little comfort

I pray you will be asleep when I open the bedroom door
But you are not

Somewhere in this house
You hide with a hammer in your hand

Waiting lovingly for my turn around the corner
It is only a matter of time

This is the easiest way to sabotage our relationship
Pouring unsuspecting violence upon me

We are spiders with spun webs
Playing the waiting game until the end

We are flies with limited life
Seconds from being caught

You have proven to be a poisoned apple
The irresistible temptation

Our love is a fatal lure
Drawing us to our demise

This game will end with a scream
Of both victory and defeat

A suspenseful write with a horror symptom, the game of love, hate, disgust? with a ripping quality.
