Darkness did not come casually into the world
It clawed and tore it’s way in
There was no heavenly ring
No angels trumpeted its arrival
Darkness leapt from the shadows
Poured down from eternal depth
The entrance was not a magical moment
When darkness entered, silence followed
Time did not stand still to watch it pass
It fled in terror
Darkness hunted it into submission
Harnessed it and called it it’s own
Darkness caused the light to submit
Demanded equal share of the sky
Now Time is a slave to Darkness
Forced to keep pace with Dark’s arrival
Darkness broke the sun
Chased away the warmth
It swallowed us all
Coveting its domain
We are visitors in it’s midst
Caught in a void of light
Blindly making our way down the path of stars
Eagerly pursuing the capture of light
What has been released, will not be contained
Never will it fit in shadows again
Darkness brought heightened awareness
A keen observance of inner demons
It released our fears
To torment and terrorize us
The dark now reigns over the night
Passing judgment on sources of light
It shouts its dominance through the night
Ravaging those who cling to light
Darkness brought with it, two companions
Silence and Fear
The unholy trinity
Bound to hold sway over us all
Where one is found
The others are also
Lurking and preying
Where light fears to tread
There is no sleep for the three
No time to bask in the chaos they sow
They have a world to conquer
A planet to dominate
