She is the face of innocence
An innocence born from phoenix fire

In her bird-of-prey eyes, a buried past
Left behind in a molted skin

This hatched dragon now flies
Only fearful of learning fear

She owns the sky and shadows the earth
The wind bows to her grace

She wills all to bow at her feet
They comply with relentless fervor

She is a page to the wants of men
Seeking always, to please others first

The night embraces this child
Twin sister of self inflicted darkness

She is a master of embracing vulnerability
Wielding it to defeat those who would conquer her

She is innocence revealed
Youth and suppleness exposed

Her countenance sets nations against each other
Helen seems leprous in her company

A Greek epic seems a nursery rhyme to her life
Her tragedy causes kings to weep

Her demons are kept deep within
In places man has yet to find

Her life is a flower trampled underfoot
Crushed by heels of indifferent suitors

I am a plucked harp string
Played to the melody in her head

It is my desire to keep her forever
But she spreads herself evenly among all

She conjures a jealously I cannot temper
So I draw myself away from temptation
