I have forgotten how to sleep
Afraid of drowning in my tears
Time is proving a brutal master
Denying my requests to forget you
I am the perfect whipping post
Thrashed to emotional breaking
I was merely an afterthought
The last of positive outcomes
Holding up the bottom of the list
A knowing recipient of last place
When you had no one else
I was there to feed your ego
I was the one to sooth the pain
To satisfy your starving
I am the cheapest of wrappers
Holding the object of your desire
A plastic protector of your wants
To be discarded after the fix
I am a sample sized answer to your needs
An appetizing Slim-Fast holdover
A duct-tape solution
To your catastrophic failure
So easily dismissed
Discarded to my own fate
A memory to be lost
Fading to complete transparency
