I sing a silent song of woe
Forbidding myself from vocal exhalation
The words measured in my mind
Keeping rhythm with my anguish

It is a sad song I do not sing
Filled with horns of despair
A rumbling bass of discontent
Notes that conjure apathy

The melody rises and falls as tides
Lamenting my bygone pleasures
A choir of fallen angels
Seducing my emotions

Torturous notes haunt my void filled heart
Echoing where once was life
The sad wail turns you away
Fearful my ‘sirens call’ will silence you too

This hateful harmony continues
A crescendo of shattering scales
Invoking a sphere of silence
That prevents me from crying out

As men we sit silent as our hearts wither. . . . . . . . . Now I am depressed. Thanks a lot. S.
