It lumbers in from the night
Shaking dew drops from it’s mane
The spreading mange speaks of it’s deeds
The sorrow beast has struck again
Terror has been delivered to the doorstep of the town
This is no figment of the imagination
No frightful storybook creature to spook little kids
This is a nightmare come to your waking world
It will not pass quietly into the day
The day is when it sharpens it’s claws
Files it’s teeth on the bones of the victims
As all true monsters do, it hides in places unseen
Waiting for the night to descend
It lurks in the space between light and shadow
Tearing portals into our world
It finds prey as all carnivores do
By following the scent of fear
This is the creature that steals our children away
Makes the sounds unknown in the night
Causes us to follow the safety orbs of streetlights
You will know it is close,
When you break into a sweat for no reason
When you have the urge to look behind you,
Even though you know you are alone
This beast is watching you
From places you do not see
You are only alive because you do not believe
The legend has not been told to you
At the moment you believe, it will appear before you
Hungry for your blood
It enjoys the destruction it unleashes
The feel of claws tearing the soul free
This monster is the face of fear
A never sleeping incarnation of things we cannot explain
Or will not accept
