She has grown withdrawn
Spending hours sitting in the kitchen
Vigilantly waiting for the phone
She needed to talk to him
Scale the walls being built
Silence was causing too much damage
Why must love be so fragile?
A porcelain trinket too often dropped

So she sits at the table
Twisting the corner of a place mat
Trying to work out her nervousness
How did it come to this?
They spent so much time together
Giving up now, is too big a sacrifice
The ball of yarn is unraveled
Leaving too many loose ends to wrap up
