She knew before the words were spoken
Something was wrong
Walls were in place
Barriers blocked the path
She sat in silent frustration
Debating which fork in the road to take
Then the phone rang
It was him
The reason for her uncertainty
He tossed false promises to her
Knowing how transparent he was
But the hook was set
She would stay
She was a convenience to him
Caught between two injustices
Her source of hope dissipates
Leaving on vapors of insecurities
Time reveals so much
Sleep will pass her by tonight
As it has for the last week
The ceiling doesn't offer answers
Though she looks there, all the same
She is too young to feel like this
Struggling with infinite options
Leaves her looking older
There is no good way to wear worry
