Lay the crown of slumber
Upon my head
Wrap me in sheets of peace

Perch outside my window
Singer of songs
Whisper notes of sleep

Sing to me nightingale
Herald of the night
Ease my troubled rest

Worshipper of the moon
Fear not the blinding night
Be not silenced by fear

Sister of the whippoorwill
Daughter of the nighthawk
Lend your song to the night

Bard of the moon
Music maker of twilight
Plant your seeds of song

Mistress of midnight
Watch over my slumber
Guide my dreams with your call

Winged lady of night
Cast your music to the dark
Release my sorrow

Recycled... this is one of my favourites of yours. It lulled me and made me feel weightless. This was utterly beautiful! =-MO-=

this piece is a nocturnal wonder, it reads with a melody surpassed only by the notes its subject possesses... excellent post!!!

Wow. I can't tell you how this sang to me. I felt that same longing. I felt that same desire for the company of that same figure. This was beautiful on so many levels. Great write. -Glass
