There she is, down the hall
You’d better avert your eyes
You know you are weak to her smile
If she sees you, you’ll be caught
She doesn’t let go easily
Your mind strains to resist her charm
Control is slipping away
Dominion over your tongue is lost
If you reveal the depth of your feelings
It will bring an era of uncertainity

She is closer
Watching you from the corner of her eyes
Judging your weakness
Searching for acknowledgement of your feelings
A sign you are under her spell
Thank goodness time keeps you moving
The thin defense between you and her
One that is broken if you linger too long
Stay too close to her
Listen to her siren’s call

Eye contact must be avoided
She’ll speak if you give her a chance
She’ll draw you into her life
Tempt you toward commitment

She is about to pass
She unleashes a hair toss
You blink for a two count
But her perfume catches your senses
You fight to calm your heart
You struggle to maintain your balance
Count to five and you just might make it
One
Two
You just want to say, “Hi”
Three
God, she looks good today
Four
Just a quick look
Five
Made it
Then you find your head twisting around
One look at her departing figure
What you would give to just hold her
The half hour conversations just aren’t enough
You want the next step
Too fearful she will say yes

Doing nothing, extends the torture
This might be the day
She bumps into the new kid
Looks into his eyes and finds what she needs
Takes the step you are unable to make
Grabs hold of what you are rejecting

This is the turmoil you face
As you turn and walk away
Leaving her to storm your dreams
Conquer your fantasies
The hints you leave
A tempting appetizer to the feast you offer
You know she knows
It is a war for you everyday
What you want is contrary to what you have
The boundaries of friendship have yet to be tested

Your weakness around her is obvious
To everyone but you
You find yourself drawn to her
You both play the waiting game
With the cards lying faceup on the table
She need only ask the question

Beautifully descriptive, it really felt you were in it all, as it was happening. Amazing work, truly captivating.

Wow, Re...this is sensational...I have been there so many times...I congratulate you for capturing this so vividly...it was like she was running through my mind again...so vibrant, and I was still mortified. Perfect.
