What wilt thou say
Whilst thy knight is away
At the midnight hour, would a knock sound forth
Beckoning thee to the crossroads of desire
Wilt courtiers find thy front door ajar
An open invitation to their seduction
Or would the portal be barred to their advance
Forcing them to dream of thy countenance
Wilt the morrow's dawn find thee weeping
Or wilt thou don thy brightest garb for faire
Wilt the dusk of a week impress upon thee a longing
Find thee weak in the resolve of thy commitment
At the fortnight, doest thou seek escape from hollow nights
Or doest thy love stay true
For thou holds sway over many a man's heart
There is none who knows, "Nay" 'round thee
Art thou willing to hide thy love away
To don the guise of a virtuous maiden
Wilt empty nights be tamed
By the company of hungry eyes
Canst thou forestall the calling
Of those who witness thy solitude
See the beauty thou hast hidden
Those enthralled by the miracle of thee
Wilt thou withstand the urging
Of a fleeting desire
Wilt thou fortify thy virtue
By tempering thy fantasies
Wilt temptation be a welcomed caller
Invited to thine hearth
What wilt thou do
When the apple is offered
Knowing thine heart sits on the scale
Of the blind lady Justice
For what is to transpire
Upon the return of thy sir
Whilst in thy heart
Dwells a deceit so cruel
Were thee to look in his eyes
Unveil thy heart's wandering
Would thine errant-knight accept thy truths
Bear the betrayal laid at his feet
Would he see past the infidelity
Look upon thee with mere disdain
Or perchance leave thee to mourn
At his desertion of thy craven love
