It's loveless here
In this place of anger and hate
The void of compassion grins at me
Taunts me to tame it
I hold the leash in my hand
But it knows to fear the leash
There are some things that won?t be tamed
Love was once here
It died a slow, painful death
The cancerous jealously was tenacious
It would not yield to passion's chemotherapy
Love held on for as long as it could
Struggled and fought to stay alive
Death was more patient
The warmth has been sanitized from here
Every trace of compassion has been sterilized
The walls are insanity white
Ties of friendship have been severed
There is an echo here that breeds pity
The temple is now a hollow husk
No longer can I call this place home
Peace has fled this place
The sanctuary has been corrupted
Foundations of beautiful minds
Have fallen into selfish pursuits
Leaving me alone to wander about
Seeking precious moments in scraps of memories
Craving to find my way back
Still I return to the site
Pursuing lost dreams and lost love
Striving to find those few moments
When things made sense
Clarity came easily
Friends and family were gathered to greet me
In the past, I want to return to
