Our Love like an old plaid suit
Moths eating away at the fabric of my morals
Out of style with no comeback in sight
Sure, it was nice looking at first
Manikins can make anything look desirable
Our Love like faded clothes
Washed clean of responsibility
Devoid of newness
Worn to threadbare tolerance
Branding me too poor for you
Our Love like an untailored suit
Buttons of brutality straining to hold on
Seams of seduction stretched to snapping
Pants of passion too short to cover my ankles
Shoulder pads too narrow for my inflated ego
Our Love like a dying fashion
I lay out the fabric of a new love
Sew my values into new shapes
Cut the strings of my stability
Window shop for an escape route
Our Love like clown sized shoes
I trip over my insecurities
Draw unneeded attention to my feet
Overcompensating for my shortcomings
I’m unable to run from your accusations
Our Love like used socks
Ripe with the stench of routine
Short of a pair by one
Tossed into a corner and forgotten
Stiff with age and use
Our Love like a wig
Covering the baldness of a dead romance
A poor substitution for the real thing
An unnatural decoy, like your affection
An artificial replacement for what is lost
Our Love like a dying fashion
Big ‘80s hair, for big mistakes
Neon colors of passion expired
Velcro shoes used to walk away from you
Blush painted cheeks, for cheeks that don’t blush
Our Love like an ugly tattoo
A drunkard’s proof of purchase
A permanent mark of a bad decision
Staining the skin of my principles
Advertising my own stupidity
Our Love like a dying fashion
Replaced after a single season
Swapping you out for this years design
Donating your style to the Goodwill of society
Our love is a dying fashion
