On this loneliest of nights
I hug my knees
Stare at the burning candle
Let the tears flow freely for you
Since you are no longer here to wipe them away
I sit here on the edge of light and dark
The curtains drawn to hide the pain
Lights switched off to conceal the hurt
Refusing the comfort of a chair
Since my life is now comfortless
Wax from the candle pools silently
Copying the actions of my tears
The wooden floor causes aches in my body
Your loss causes aches in my soul
I reach out to the candle's flame
Reach for your image, which isn't there
With every flicker
I am reminded of a point in time
When we were together
And we were happy
