You wear your crown so smugly
Believing it is your right to rule
You look down on those around you
Feeling protected by your appointed rank

But your tainted crown has slipped over your ears
Made you deaf to your own injustices
Silenced the screams of those you oppress
Blocked the pleas of those you treat with cruelty

The tainted crown has slipped over your eyes
You do not see that we do not need to be ruled
Especially by a crown wearer with no honor
Your subjects grow weary of your double standards

The obsidian trinket would fall if a vote were taken
Your crown being won by the seduction of a king
You openly attack those that threaten you
Not because you possess courage, but because you have the king’s blessing

You are prejudiced nobility with unearned power
Recklessly thrusting your will upon the lowly
Believing you are of a nobler breed
Your actions have proved otherwise

One day the crown will fall
And you will stand before us as equals
If only you were

Yeah, if only the voting booths did not keep getting tampered and equal airtime existed. I was really surprised at some of the comments. I think the concept came out as a fairly universal piece of the wishful thinking of the oppressed.

Hail to you, Recycled. From one poet to another, respect for your piece here. I find this to be one of your best, perhaps the best, in my perspective. No bullshit.

At least it's a tainted crown and not like tainted glass slippers. Shit could you imagine if there were a pair of slippers that fit _anyone's_ feet?!? The Prince would never be able to find his "Cinderella".

He'd end up getting stuck with that bearded chick that works at the stadium hotdog stand. Now that'd be crazy. Then we'd see who would be beggin for some tainted crown love. Bwahahaha.

Bearded chics need love too.

Good work. Us poor paupers have a right to revolt. I can see a relation to DP but it's a good work no matter how you ment it.

Hmm...I didn't take this as others did I suppose. Maybe I'm just naive...I didn't feel this was directed at DP...was it?

On Tuesday December 9th, 2003, Recycled (161) writes:
Big negative. I have never written a poem out of hate, jealousy, or love. This was a "devil's advocate" piece that many people took wrong.

On Monday December 8th, 2003, King_Crazy_Dave (420) writes:
youve already crossed whatever line youve drawn in the sand. why stop with subtlety. this is more directed than you would admit. a tad too narrow to be aimed at everyone who wears that crown. what are you getting at? jealousy. viva la revolution . bitch

On Monday December 8th, 2003, Recycled (161) writes:
All those accusing me of jealousy are missing the point. All those who are offended should consider why.

On Monday December 8th, 2003, King_Crazy_Dave (420) writes:
youve got a dpmail. i considered why i'm offended

Because I felt like it.

That's not nice, I thought you never deleted comments? Ah well, btw, I'm not offended, so yea.

if this was simply a poem... then i would like it... but i know that these words run deeper than they show... and i feel any of the people with crowns on this site have them, not because they seduced a "king",

On Monday December 8th, 2003, Recycled (161) writes:
I do not harbor any deep driving hatred toward anyone. This was simply a poem to play devil's advocate. I seem to play the part well.

On Friday December 5th, 2003, Bast (1007) writes:
but because they deserve it for their poetry and dedication to the site... and Recycled... if you're going to fight a duel, the noble thing to do is to call out your foe openly... not to quietly sneak around the back.
