So it came to be that I entered this untamed valley
And did behold a citadel of great stature
Seated peacefully beside a narrow river
Never before had I witnessed a stronghold of such magnitude
For many hours did I look in awe at this grand sight
Watched the colored banners float on the summer breeze
Knowing the inhabitants must be of great importance
I assembled my aides-de-camp
To discuss the capture of such a fort
It was determined after much dispute
That I should offer a chance to surrender
For you to peacefully release the contents of your castle
It was to this end
That I inspired to write this message
And send it to you upon a dove's leg
"I will lay siege to your castle
Tear down your walls
Make captives of the dwellers within
My army of emotions will attack
Make you choose your loyalty
Force you to defend your treasures
Your turrets will grant you a view
Of my conquering forces
Your ramparts will provide little protection
My catapults of love will throw fire at you
Arrows tipped with affection will shower your home
Swords of truth will beat upon your gates
Your stone walls will not withstand my approach
Your javelins of rejection will not induce fear
Rocks of denial will land without effect
If you intend to wait out the siege
Be prepared to endure for months
For my camp is well stocked
Your high walls will not deter me
Your battlements will be made to crumble
I will reduce your fortress to a pile of rock
Your rocky lair will not divert me
Though you may cast hot pitch upon me
Or taunt me from your sanctuary
I will not give up the quest
To conquer these towers
And win the prize within
I will claim my reward
A heart as pure as virgin streams
Filled well past over flowing
Your moat will be bridged by my desires
My banner will be hoisted above the bridge
My battering ram will cause your drawbridge to shudder
As days progress
You will witness my resolve
And be filled with self-doubt
When at last your gates buckle in
I will advance on the throne room
And take possession of the contents
The gold will be tossed aside
Gems will be given to the peasants
But your heart will be given a shrine
Built of eternal marble
Guarded by my entire army of passion
Protected forever from those who seek it harm
So I offer one chance
To surrender your heart now
Or endure a long costly battle
A battle I am sure to win
For my army is great
And your treasure, it's only desire"
