I know loneliness
A loneliness only the ocean knows
From burying the truth for too long
The ocean knows my plight
We both feel the pull of the moon
Become moody at each turn of the tide
We lay in our bed
Dreaming of conquering mountains
Reaching out for moonlit shores
We are the same, the ocean and I
Lovers to no one
Used for recreation, then left behind
Our depth is deeper than mountains are high
We feel the pressure of our soul
We each hold on to many secrets
The loneliness we know, shows on the surface
In the blank expression we maintain
We absorb the world’s tears
There are some who will look under our cover
And see wondrous things
But we cannot be loved, for we change too much
I know the ocean’s midnight emptiness
As it lays there with an eye toward the moon
