The tears roll down your cheeks
And drip off your chin
As you dig your finger nails
Into your sun tanned skin
I know this pain all too well
I've felt the fear that I see in your eyes
And the broken smile you wear
In front of others, Is your disguise
You've forgotten how to love yourself
And I wish so terribly that I could help you see
You are the most beautiful soul I've ever met
When I tell you this, you always disagree
I know that this is the hardest thing
That you've ever dared to do
It's so hard to let go of the past
And everything you've been through
It's OK to be angry
It's OK to be sad
These feelings are normal
Nothing about them is bad
If you need to cry sometimes
When nobody else is around
Go for it honey
Tears don't mean that your breaking down
They show that your still living
For the dead don't cry
You made it, your still here
Your still alive

This poem is the warmth from a best friends hug. It's comforting, reassuring acknowledgment and it's soothing. It's an instant favorite.

Thank you for that. I'll try to remember. Wise words, it's just that sometimes it is hard to look at it that way when there is no hope of life meaning more than a lonely emptiness.

I wish someone had given me words like this when I was feeling down. Very heartfelt. Nice work.
