Unable to withstand
the onslaught of loneliness
I yearn for a touch
from outside myself
Taste of an apple
too long on the ground
Fallen, unwanted
'till even the core is dry
Birds pass by
flowers grow near
none can see me
for I am within
with only the rain
to moisten my soul
