Tears fill my eyes & no matter how desperately I fight them back
They are stronger than I
They twist down my face, spilling onto my sheets.
Empty, I lay here wishing for arms to hold & comfort me
Darkness climbs the walls painting them black
A red light seeps from my soul screams out for my retreat.
As if exposed to the sun the pain blisters my existence
I want to stand strong & steady
My life falters, stumbles & falls to the ground yet again.
Distant, twisted, torn & left for noting but ruins
I can't stand to let it go & I am reaching
For a future that is so uncertain & locked to a past like
a ball & chain.
And I can't seem to find the key...
That will set me free…
