Over margaritas
he watches her grow up.
She sheds her winter coat
and orders her drink
without hesitation.
On the rocks.
Salted glass.
Talk passes time
Smiles are for charming.
She drains her glass neatly.
Licks the salt from the rim.
Leaves him with
a blown goodbye kiss
through a window traced
in the latticework of frost.
