Night and day were long at an impasse:
a hallooed moon raked a crescent claw
across a sunset that refused to die,
the sky a bloody mess for it;
All red-slashed indigo horizon,
a beaten and chastised sun sinking
low over a river so blue
no sweet lover’s eyes could ever
live up to expectations again.

"a hallooed moon raked a crescent claw across a sunset that refused to die" more word-magic. Especially enjoyed the river eclipsing the legendary lover's eyes. -END

this is forever burned into my soul. such vivid imagery i can taste the air around it, and smell the burnt sulpher and feel the sun as it sets. wow. very nice. stick around, i'd love to 'see' more. ~ta

i enjoyed this, a watercolour painting melting in the sun, imbued with such colour and action, seeing such things are rare so this poem fills a hole in a grey sky feeling
