Phone call very anticipated

that seems to go along with
the sand in your eyes
elementary school disappointment

Don't get me wrong

I expected you to respond in such a manner

for it's as predictable as the sun rises and sets
yet for some crazy reason
I held the razor- thin hope
that today might be different

Today you would own your shit
forgive and forget
and appreciate the bigger picture
even if it meant
having to swallow the goldfish

against your better judgment

but it went something more like this...
