A Glimmer of hope
Held up and offered
But actually nothing more
Than an empty lie.
Tickling, teasing, tormenting
With a promise
Never meant to be fulfilled.
Just a lie, self deceiving,
Presented in the abyss
Of hopelessness as what
It was not
And never would be.
A shining glimmer of hope.
Snuffed out
Abandoning its beholder
Into the dark depths of despair.
