I will not let you languish in the dark
The past is the past and not to be forgotten on a lark
The road once taken may have been a false start
But do not let regrets rule your heart.
In the darkness there does for you one fire burn
One that will your presence never spurn
Your wounded spirit I gather close to my heart
Warming it, feeding it, healing it with my small art.
I will not let you languish abandoned in the dark
No one on a journey like yours should ever alone embark
I’ve watched the light dancing deep in your eyes
I’ve felt your tears as you’ve been burnt by life’s lies
I’ve felt your nightmares in the night
I’ve felt your shudders at unwanted sight.
Gathers you close and tastes your falling tears
Stands upright to share and ward off your fears
If you chose more than a shelter to you would I give
No strings attached just a loving space in which to live.
