*For a special woman, on a special day*

What goddess conceived her,
I do not know.

What angel placed her in my path,
I do not know.

It was with her
I learned why hearts are caged.

mine jumped
to see how happy it made her,
making me smile.
It was hard not to, in her presence.

Every little thing,
every detail on her face
telling me I was pleasing her
in any way

gave my heart wings.

Were it free,
it would no longer be mine.
It would be hers,
fulfilling the promise I made to her
time and time again.

I wished to reach out
and to touch her;

to hold and to keep her.

Graze her lips with my own
and kiss them until
they curved to a smile.

I want to press my body to hers
as we sleep, keep her close,
feel her breath upon my neck.

I want to glide my hands
along her body,
through her hair.

Perfect, all of it.
As I expected, from something
containing the girl I knew.

Delicate, soft, smooth,
silky, intoxicating, addictive...

She seemed not to believe,

"I'm broken..."

"Angel, if ever you did break
every piece would be perfect still."

But my touch will not break her;
my love will not harm her.

It is I who should fear,
such things never seem to last.

I will spend every second I have with her
earning my place in the next.
