They beat, they cut, they crushed him,
for torture was their art.
As such they learned its highest form,
in how to break a heart.

The gods pulled strings to hurt him,
To leave him bruised, alone.
She would become his only reason;
to his life, the only tone.

They gave to him this maiden fair,
and let him with her lay.
They gave him love, they made him whole,
then took it all away.

Of all the ways to break a heart,
one stands above them all.
The heart must love, and come alive,
before you let it fall.

Yes..."they" do that a lot. I wonder if they get a laugh from watching us suffer...Even in the sadness this is still beautiful.
