He walks through a world
of shaded streets & silhouettes,
staring down stars for answers.
There was a time he believed in love.
Emotional connections failed him.
As they slipped away
he held on to flesh.
He gripped
and tried to substitute
for an absence of mutual feelings
with a mutual physical desire.
The first woman he loved
left him;
Naked and unsatisfied,
alone.
They drifted through his life
one by one,
fueling his discontent.
Eventually he traded women for booze
and stared down the stars alone.
He was just a boy
with silver dreams;
in a rusted world.
