*A response to a poem that is unfortunately no longer on DP, a piece of art which held a line none have matched in explaining how I always used to feel*
"And when butterflies drop dead at your feet,
you know you are no prince or princess"
-Poison (December, 2007)
re-posted - Marionette Mars
I'm an immobile observer.
I watch as it flutters in circles,
trapped within a jar
with wings beating
against clear glass.
Butterflies were never meant to be contained.
Nothing this beautiful
should be held captive;
it deprives the world.
Slowly I watch
as a butterfly dies.
We've been writing a fairy tale
all along.
The only happy ending I can see
is if it never ends.
Keep giving me pages,
a chance.
I will write of our love
forever.
