There was a time I was a wish;
a wish crafted by an angel.

This angel,
my angel,
tired of flying alone
and chose instead to walk,
next to me

Holding an angel's hand,
I felt loved;

and yet
I felt unworthy,
inadequate of such company.

For what man can live with himself
while making an angel walk?

That was the day
I swore to become more than a man
for her.

That was the day
I became a promise.

Soar my angel,
I will try to keep up.

I became a promise of love,

a promise of friendship,

of commitment,

faithfulness,

a promise of forever.

I became a promise
which I forever intend to keep.
