The glass of my mirror
Is bleak, is cold
My inadequate reflection
Little to behold
"Unworthy of her affections"
By this mirror I am told
-
She is beauty's idol
Adorning an angel's grace
She is the goddesses rival
& wears a portrait face
-
I dared not catch her gaze
Her eyes were of perfection
I could not let them hold
My trivial, blemished reflection
-
In sadness still they shined
Hanging tears like chandeliers
Her eyes appeared as crystal,
They were tiny crystal mirrors
-
And when in them I saw myself
The image had no flaw
.
.
.
And when,
in them,
I saw myself.
The image had no flaw.
I do not know
How she sees me so
But it matters not,
It matters not
I love her
For showing me
The me
I had long forgotten.
