Silence surrounds me,
As I sit,
Lost within the shadows of my mind.

My thoughts turn to despair,
Hopelessness, and guilt...
That I lived and they did not.

How can life be so unfair?
How can God be so cruel,
As to take the angels of this world,

Those who are good and kind,

And leave those who are cynical,
Disillusioned, scarred, and tortured,
Like me, behind?

In the silence these questions beat at me,
Keeping me awake in the night,
Until I think... Until I feel,
That I will lose my mind

They plague my soul,
Fueling my depression until,
Thoughts of suicide haunt my waking dreams.

There is no light left in my world,
As the silence of the night surrounds me,
Closing in until it starts to suffocate me.

A ray of light appears,
At the end of the tunnel,
Holding out a hand to me...

Beckoning me...
Calling to me...
Drawing me forward out of the shadows.

Helping me to shed these thoughts of self destruction.
Wrapping me in arms of love,
As the silence slips away...
