Take the hand you’re dealt they say
That doesn’t take the pain away
Raped while still a little child
And they wonder why my mind is wild
Followed by a car crash leaving permanent pain
Drunk and stupid, get married and a child I gain
Belted once to often so marriage I leave
My only release is the work to which I cleave
More and more I do the in tray never emptying
Crazed and sore my arms become but I still keep working
Come home to a fiasco what a child
Poor kid didn’t get a fair deal genetics made sure he was wild
Crash the car again and now it hurts to walk
Never mind at least I can still talk
Sister takes on a sawmill
She’ll be alright that’s the drill
Both of us now in pain for the rest of our life
That’s okay we can manage cos we’re only a wife
Prescription drugs are our lifelines to cope
Interfering male decide we don’t need them, what a dope
I decide I don’t need the manipulation and crap so another hubby goes
He decides to kill himself and makes sure wild child is the one to find him
Not enough to screw with my head he puts my kids mind on a breaking limb
Sisters had twenty years of wedded bliss
Then she is told he wants out of this
Now we have a lifetime of stress
And they wonder why we are a mess
Wild child trying the straight and narrow
Sister’s kids took the wrong side of the furrow
Our kids are now full grown
Would we have had them if only we had known?
Revenge is best served cold they say but maybe it should be warmer
I’m playing the hand I’ve been dealt, patiently waiting for karma
So here in bed each day I lay
Waiting patiently for new cards to play
