Love and wealth and poverty
And a thousand lonely streets
People being poetry
To a thumping heart like beat

Waves and waves of humanity
As if a fuse has been lit
To realize is to love reality
The Hit to beat all hits

A plane suspended in the sky
All in a moment or just a breath
I almost feel to reach that high
Life so special because of death

Dirty old Thames runs through the night
Runs just like it’s always ran
In the Town that’s always light
I will do it just ‘cause I can

From Covent Garden market
Where people are green and red and gold
To common garden privet hedges
A town that’s neither lost nor sold

It’s like this because it always will be
In one way or another
The river runs out to the sea
God the Father the Earth our Mother

I love you dirty shitty city
Where no one’s ever free
So thought I’d write you a little ditty
In the hope that’s the way it will always be
