I awoke this morning
And went back in time
And there you were
Just like you always were
Wearing what you always wear

You said hello
And I greeted you too
In that way that we always do
I marvelled and touched your skin
It was definitely you

But gone were the scars
The abscesses, the lost vein’s
Its like you were whole again
No more hatred, no one to blame
Time wiped away sin and we were both brand new

Your hand slipped into mine
In that way
I was lost and confused
Didn’t know what to say
Just wrapped into you and the pain vanished away

I awoke twice this morning
Second time you were gone
I’m Rattling and alone
Salt formed tears realise
That the worst nightmares
Are happy dreams that wake
