unchambering sadness requires diligence
a dreamer’s vigilance
the nectar of hope still on your lips
searing through opposing words
as they march off your tongue
with conviction
faithless
fallen
clandestine promises in the dark
made to yourself
when your bravest visions
are laden with muck
yet, you reach up
to claw at life
because the depths of madness
are filled with lubricious caverns
keeping you from release
they weigh you down with shame
they say you’re nameless
and that your destiny is dread
soldier of life
soaring as the eagle soars for freedom
lend me your sword
let me strike out in defense
when the shadow-faced goblin appears
let the calliope-voiced songs of Arcadia
spring from the throats of gallant temples
their doors open
ready for my entrance
and when my gait is steady
when each step becomes another
deliver me into majesties divine
