there aren’t any words left
not real ones
I hear noises that grunt about this
or grunt about that
it’s all filler
yet I yearn to be empty
my shadow reaches out
as I reach out
providing me with a most sincere reflection
it is dark
as I am dark
and I know why summer leaves fall
having been kissed by the sun
and beaten by rain
their bright colors scream brilliantly
in a swan song that gently fades
as they spiral downward
greeting death in hungry earth
swallowed by the need to feed other seasons
there is beauty in this
so I find my eyes brimming
ready to shed a tear
for each leaf
until sweet death
feeds the earth with me
