I’m walking on ocean tides
bobbing with each rising and falling wave
lightening breaks, crackling
splintering the sky
like a paper Jesus
tearing himself apart
I hear the thunder
loud, relentless
savage!
ripping through the rain
you may think me arrogant
when I tell you this
but I didn’t flinch
instead, I danced
when I heard the ravenous thunder
I bathed in the pelting rain
baptized on a tumultuous ocean
and when the lightning flashed
horror through the sky
I smiled
because the storm
wouldn’t last
long enough to break my spirits
tonight
I rode the storm
