gutter bum tragedy
laying on sidewalks
listening to the footsteps of giants
thunderous
unforgiving
footsteps like demonic marching bands
pounding the pavement
with judgement
with contempt

turning up their noses
to the stench
the lingering
reeking
foulness
of another man’s despair

a son
a brother
a lost soul
hopeless and torn
with the fabric of time
living in angst
dying alone
on the sidewalk
the streets kissing him gently
to sleep

nice. you've captured the humanity of homelessness and the inhumanity of certain people's attitudes very well. i like the way it ends 'the streets kissing him gently to sleep'-it's kind of peaceful and dreamy, in contrast to the life he lead.
