I think we should eat our hearts
so that they’ll never be plucked from trees
like forbidden fruit
in someone else’s hands (evil).

I think we should strip the sky of stars
and replace them with mistletoe
so that if I made a wish on one of them
I’d know you’d always make it come true.

let’s throw our eyes into the ocean
so that they’ll never find another tear.
we never needed them anyway.
my hands always read you just fine.

let’s cut our ears off like Van Gogh.
all we ever did was argue
and where’s the art in that?

why don’t we plug up our noses?
the scent of you always drove me insane.
I called you vanilla, jasmine,
violet, bergamot, ylang-ylang
and sometimes amber
but now I can’t smell your name.
