I drank this verse to savor it’s soliloquy.
These random, precious thoughts
I kept hidden like forbidden treasures
festering in the most desolate of graves.
They were too raw to share,
still bleeding from their broken stitches
with scars like hidden valleys of despair.
They blossomed into giant beasts.
This steed of brazen scavengers
that galloped through my sleepless nights
with brilliant, blinding razor fangs
consuming every guarded breath
and gnawing on this putrid heart.
I tossed and turned and turned to toss
this myriad of angst,
but couldn’t part with the darkest part
whose memories still latched on
and dug those old, rusted hooks
deep within that place I seldom visit
yet drops right in to find me on my knees.
So I pound this song through keyboards
to keep the beasts at bay.
While I spin this thread into crimson walls
I can buy some time to find my escape.
If you find me somewhere playing,
typing keys into the wind,
please ignore the notes I’m screaming.
I’ve spent countless years in song.
