Once begotten from a womb
of swaddled joys and endless love.
I left behind the deepest trace
of unsung hope
once woven in maternal dreams.
“Such eyes” she said,
will one day see the grandiose hopes
stenciled in her heart.

The strongest hands that waved goodbye
were yours…
Forgive me for the slick, wet slope
of cowardice and lies.
You taught me
that my dreams would give me strength
but I left them
on the note you found within
and though you’ll never say it
I know right now I let you down (again).
~*~
We shared the same womb
much the way a tear shares the shoulder it cries on.
Forgive me this:
that I’ll never again return the favor,
that I’ll never again have words to carve my praises
into the depths of so many aspirations
that lingered even beyond all hope
waiting for my voice to cheer you on.
~*~
Dear, precious friend of all my days
I saved this time for you.
I thought it best to keep you last.
You found me then, though I was gone.
You tried in vain to argue
how mountains move with faith
but I was weary of the road
and I was drowning in this fate
~*~
Goodbye to all who listened.
Goodbye to all the tears.
I love you all forever,
but couldn’t face my fears.
