The morning light sweeps through cold glass
and playfully licks your face.
(I want you to lay still.)
This timeless moment...
watching you lie there
right before the world steals you
(from me).
This is my moment.
I claim it with all that I am
because watching you dream fills my soul
until
I’m someone.
I’m so jealous.
This dream that keeps you
(from me)
doesn’t deserve you.
I’m so thankful.
While you dream I sit here
watching so I can dream
(awake).
This is my vision:
Watching you slowly open your eyes
as though you were born this very moment.
I become part of your world today
while those sleepy eyes shame the daylight
as they drink in the sun.
I want you to lay there
just another moment
because I’ll never have this moment again
and I finally understand
that this
moment...
was all I ever had.
