A smile bathed in sunshine.
A heart born to sing.
I captured a rainbow,
on a butterfly wing.

It fluttered with glee,
high up on a tree,
dreaming of colors,
that no one can see.
Though life is a cage,
a shell filled with rage,
my rainbow, sweet rainbow
always sang happily.

One day it was time,
Rainbow in its prime.
It looked in my eyes,
said each rainbow dies.
Slowly fluttering away,
though I begged it to stay.
my rainbow, dear rainbow
was finally set free.
