Glistening waves reaching forward to speak.
Warm moonlight tasting every word.
Starry skies conspiring to flaunt their prayers.
A school of wandering mist chuckles in mischief.

An eternal night promises nothing
yet dances on starry skies,
swims through a rainbow of tears
and finds its place in a dream.
Each momentous visit it charms its way
into bright souls
dimming them softly,
and bringing them home.

An infant cries it’s last cry
wrapped in a blanket of night.
There’s no shame in this plight
and dreary shades of buttery moss
gleam in a smile.
An old man stumbles
and clutching his heart
he sighs a dark joy.
He has no regrets
and the night comes to him
like a wandering pup.
A young bride lays still,
trapped in a blood-soaked bed,
and bludgeoned by her groom.
The night enters her
with a swirling swoon.
Hungrily she accepts its sweet kiss.
A young boy cries out!
Pinned under a car
a deafening void takes him home.
His mother shudders in disbelief,
she stares at an empty vessel,
and her tears stain the night
on a canvas of grief.

The night fares well.
Its work is a song of devotion.
Tasting sweet sorrows,
it tenderly wraps you
in a beguiling embrace.
You grin an empty grin
and the night hovers around you
filling you with starry skies.

Pieces of this reminded me of the poem "Acquainted with the Night" by Robert Frost....lovely.
