Spent a lot of time thinking about the future
Where sex and looks would begin to falter
But none of that would matter at all
There were no confessions that would cause distance
Until that night I held your hand
And my palm passed right through yours
Nervously I looked up to your face
And your eyes went through the back of my skull
A gaze of you shown something empty
Like passion that filled your spare time
I fucked up a lot to take a shot at our union
I lost even more
When you returned and I wanted to believe
Come apart in the darkness
Where the shapes can never be found to reassemble
Chalk it up to humans being human
Where no one is immune to a less than perfect day
So difficult to admit that it’s all gone to Hell
Dirty creatures that feel entitled to written glories
Feelings close up and die without any warnings
Syndromes tethered to years below seven
Hurt radiated as you dug up what you buried
Vibrations of your voice shook my soul
Words easily said without intent
I let blood streak across my forearms, drip off my fingers
I lost calm moments
Something warms me now that you’re so unhappy
Hours are fueling strength
Swinging the sledgehammer to smash moments before you
