[Read it out loud, with an open mind]
“Take my peace
Place it in thy mouth
And spread its virtues
So that we may end all wars
All poverty… and all evil”
Forgive me,
But your peace is hard to swallow
And I find your claim too idealistic
That your peace can cover the globe
Or that your peace can satisfy everyone
I don’t want it in my mouth
It will not end all tragedy
Forgive the way I insult you,
But you wave your peace in our faces
I have my own understanding
A firmly satisfying morality
Subjective to the tint I place on it
I will not conform
I will not submit
I will not let you give me her-peace
I will not take his peace either
And you can claim to end all wars
Or stretch your ideals to the farthest shores
But in the end, your peace is just too small
Comes far too quickly, and leaves just as fast...
