I know that here beyond my eyes
and rising like a veil
are walls with chains that gleam and shine
as if to mock these silly climbs you make.
When dreaming of the thoughts
that weave like thread through veins
and pulse with candied streams
which boil red-hot springs
and rush to escape clots that form and break
right near the surface of my skin
like fireworks within
expel from spots
where tension and attention fight for dominance.
Whichever one that ignites first will burst
and flow a steady path
or worse
will stem and dot like beads.
In either case
it bleeds.
These bright metallic pawns appear
whenever you are here
and open up your mouth of flame
like dominating queen
you know where these pawns play
and yet my screens are solid.
Now you're stalled and seething
sharpened tongue attacks
with true intent to slay.
You know that broken skin will mend
and when the scars are little else than smoke
perhaps you'll have provoked me
into giving up my sneaking ways
or else to giving in and speaking
something more than lying phrases.
Prizes speed and slow
and spawn my need for flight
my need to guard
your chance to grow
you know what lies beyond my eyes
I show you every time I say goodbye.
