You know what, what people call emo these days is complete bullshit. Complete bullshit.

It isn't "emo;" fuck, it isn't even emotional. It's a bunch of androgynous teenagers who find themselves in pop-rock and poor imitations of punk. Face it: Emo just isn't emo anymore.

Emo then was about frustration; it was about getting out your emotions; it was about the music. Emo now is about wearing too much eyeliner and having fucking up the dye on your shitty haircut; it's about cutting your wrists and blacking your eyes; it's about listening to bands who have been playing their instruments for thirty seconds and failing to heights previously unknown to mankind; it's about shitty songs with even shittier titles that reference pop-culture and cult-followings; it's about what corporate music wants you to listen to.

And what happens when these emo kids tire of emo? They move on to stupid wiggercore death slam bullshit. Maybe the transition isn't that fast. Let me slow it down for you: emo kid; as i lay dieing trash metal ist krieg; stupid wiggercore death slam bullshit.

Anyone who listens to extreme music -- no Slipknot and Killswitch aren't extreme in any way; neither is Panterrible -- knows exactly what I'm talking about. Exactly. Ever heard of a little band called Devourment? They're the fuckers that started this stupid wiggercore death slam bullshit. Pretty soon, Wanking the Cadaver and Annotations of an Autopsy show up. These bands have no more talent than the shitty "emo" bands these kids were listening to before; perhaps even less talent, if that's even possible.

And then after that...who knows what. I'm worried for the last bastions of underground music: black metal, crust, doom, and sludge -- real sludge, not this Mastodon and Isis stuff (they're alright bands though). Fuck, grind is already subcumbing to this disease. Fucking grind. You know: thirty seconds songs where a band anally rapes you and you have no fucking idea what the shit just happened -- yes, that music, it's infected. There's no true grind that's infected, just like there's no true infected death metal, but they think it is; they think they have grind under their horribly painted thumbnail. Therefore all extreme music is at risk here.

So, for everyone that's tired of cutting wrists and blacking eyes this is for you; for everyone that's tired of "GORE NOT CORE" and hypocrisy that's only as raging as the boners these guys get when they see themselves in the mirror, this is for you; for everyone that's tired of shitty bands with less than zero talent, this is for you; for everyone that likes bands that can play actual songs instead of snipets of rehashed bullshit, this is for you. Godbless us all, we fucking need it.

Fuck shitty music. And fuck Ron Paul (sorry, obligatory).

I have to admit...this is very true. I prefer to listen to bands that actually try to reach the audience with real shit that's happening in the world...instead of thinking of myself decomposing six feet under..

well. this wasn't insulting. not at all. i won't be necessarily "emo" . i just cut. and getting better at staying away from cutting. i really hate emos. i see them as stupid spoiled kids that don't get enough attention as it is and they need more so they go ahead and cut themselves and start listening to melodramatic songs about suicide and shit. this is fucking true. they are murdering real music. -mars

The emo lifestyle isn't about cutting or committing suicide, it's about glorifying it. They're just too cowardly to follow through with it. The kids I do know who cut and listen to emo is because they found solace in the music. And instead of asking for help (or receiving help when offered), they just keep up their self-destruction. So they're doing something pointless, self-destruction, and potentially fatal instead of doing something useful: rocking the fuck out; a good old fashion circle pit is a great form of exercise.

I'm still listening the Bauhaus and Souxie and wondering when a modern punker will bother to come up with something original that wasn't done in '81 when I was 3...emo was never emo: it was a bunch of punk kids that didn't bother to notice somebody else already did it, and way better, 25 years ago...
